Our Purpose

Big Brothers Big Sisters assists children in their social,
emotional, and character development by providing carefully screened volunteers who serve as friends and mentors.

Our Programs

Community Based
Children ages 6-12 living in single parent homes are eligible for this program.  The child's match will either be one-to-one or with a married couple.  They are matched according to
interests and personalities. “Matches” spend quality time together every other week at times that fit both the parent and volunteer's schedule. Each match is monitored and nurtured by professional staff with a focus on child safety.

Site Based Adult Mentoring
Children ages 6-12 regardless of family situation are eligible for this program.  The child will be matched with a volunteer at their school during school hours.
This program gives children the opportunity to improve their learning skills and self-esteem by matching them with adults who serve as mentors and friend.

Site Based
High School Buddies
Children ages 6-12 regardless of family situation are eligible for this program.  The child will be matched with a qualified high school student who will meet with them in an after school program at a specified site.  Every high school buddy must maintain a 3.0 GPA and have reliable transportation to the program site.  This program also gives children the opportunity to improve their learning skills and self-esteem by matching them with a volunteer to serve as a
positive role model, guide, tutor, and friend.

How Can I Volunteer?

Volunt
eers must complete an application and give three references, submit to a background check (excludes High School Buddies), be interviewed by a case manager, and complete our child abuse education and prevention training.

How Do I Get My Child Involved?

In the Community Based program the parent must call the office to set up an interview with a case manager.  During the visit paperwork will be filled out, the child and parent will be interviewed and both will be trained on child abuse prevention.
